The first question that popped up in my mind after reading the title of the film was why this. Once Will (the groom's dad) and Lana (the bride's mom) come to grace their presence on screen, everything becomes clear. Lana and Will share more chemistry than RJ and Emma have in the entire movie which is based on their wedding.

Traveling to Phuket with all the family members of the bride and groom's side, we have a strange encouragement. It was awkward knowing that the parents of to be wedded had dated each other in their youth. If you look at Lana, she's a hot mamma and that's the same reason why every eligible bachelor was drooling over her thoughts.

While RJ and Emma are stuck with their wedding preparations, the families of both sides have nothing to do as everything is being sponsored and planned by someone else. So, in the meantime, we see a lot of drama. The film would've been a lot better if there was a different ending.

I might have slept through the lesson where they taught the family relations chapter in high school. What was going to happen in the movie was that the bride and groom's parents fell in love with each other. Had the writers not included the plot of Will having the doubtful conversation, it might have been possible that Lana and him would've been kissing on the same platform where their kids got married. This huge debacle delayed the oldies romance and allowed the kids to get married first.

The audience right from the beginning of the film will be able to see how it's going to end. So, there comes no surprise in terms of the plot. The actress playing Emma, Miranda Cosgrove needs to work diligently on her expressions. Whatever the situation or dialogue delivery may be, the woman has the same facial expressions. Emma’s character wouldn't have been so dull if she had been a little more expressive.

My favorite scene in the film is when Emma and Lana hug each other just before the wedding and the toast Lana gives at the rehearsal dinner. These two have been shown to share a great bond and the audience can feel all the things including their turmoil, their love, and devotion towards each other. We all felt bad when Emma wasn't allowing Lana to do her mom's duties for the planning of the wedding, right every mother has. What's commendable about Lana is that she didn't try to intervene and let Emma have her moment until things went too far.

If we had to compare these two generations: the parents and the to-be-married couple, two things are noticeable. The first is how the older generation was free from the shackles of social media and the second one is how they know how to make the best out of every moment.

Mother of the Bride despite being predictable delivers great messages including giving family time and valuing your bonds. I've loved watching their journey and at the same time, I also want to tell the audience that there are better rom-coms there that haven't messed up with the relations of their characters in such a manner.

Various exotic locations have been used in the movie which add an extra charm to it. Flowers have been an important part of the movie and if you've noticed then they can be found in the majority of the frames. Be it Emma and RJ’s proposal or their wedding decorations, everything is so floral and pretty. With a total duration of 90 minutes, this rom-com manages to give an average performance.

Final Score – [6.5/10]
