A day after Rick Riordan revealed that filming of the Disney+ series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is in the last phase, we can officially confirm the new wrap date for the first season.

The series was expected to wrap up filming earlier this week on Jan 25, but now it has been extended by 10 more days, and it will now wrap up on Friday, February 3, 2023. Although this isn't a big surprise considering that Rick already confirmed in yesterday's blog post that the series is now only left with shooting some extra and leftover scenes. Yesterday, Percy Jackson and the Olympians completed the cast by revealing its Zeus and Poseidon.

‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ began filming on June 2 in Vancouver, BC, Canada, and has already taken more than 7 months in production. Considering that Feb 3 is the last day of the shoot, it will take exactly 8 months to completely wrap up the shoot.

Since the filming is taking eight months, it won't be surprising if the show takes more than that to complete the post-production of this CGI-heavy show. So, we can rule out any possibility of its 2023 premiere.

The series will focus on the titular 12-year-old boy, who discovers that he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon and begins training to become a hero at Camp Half-Blood, a special training camp for demigods.

It's the 21st century, and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to have walked out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology texts and into his life. Percy has learned that his real father is Poseidon, god of the sea, which means Percy is a demigod - half human, half god. At the same time, the powerful gods on Olympus are feuding, which could launch a war surrounding our entire planet. Now, Percy must prepare for the adventure of a lifetime, and the stakes couldn't be higher. With threatening storm clouds brewing over Earth and his own life now in peril, Percy travels to a special enclave called Camp Half-Blood, where he trains to harness his newly discovered powers and prevent a devastating war among the gods. There, Percy meets two fellow demigods - the warrior Annabeth, who is searching for her mother, the goddess Athena; and his friend and protector, Grover, who is actually a brave but untested satyr. Grover and Annabeth then join Percy on an incredible transcontinental odyssey that takes them six hundred stories above New York City and to the iconic Hollywood sign, under which burn the fires of the Underworld. At the journey's end rests the fate of the world - and the life of Percy's mother Sally, whom Percy must rescue from the depths of Hell itself.

The cast of the series is led by Walker Scobell as Percy, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, and Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth. The cast also includes Virginia Kull as Percy’s mom Sally, Glynn Turman as mythological centaur Chiron, Jason Mantzoukas as the Greek god of wine Dionysus, Megan Mullally as the Fury Alecto, Timm Sharp as Percy’s stepfather Gabe, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, Toby Stephens as Poseidon, Lance Reddick as Zeus, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Olivea Morton, Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, Adam Copeland, Suzanne Cryer, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Timothy Omundsen, and Jay Duplass.

Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg have written the screenplay based on Riordan's novel series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.” Steinberg and Dan Shotz serve as executive producers alongside James Bobin, Rick Riordan, Bert Salke, Jim Rowe, Rebecca Riordan, Monica Owusu-Breen, and Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldberg. 20th Television and Walt Disney Studios are the studios behind the series.

‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ will release in early 2024 on Disney+.
